Our story begins on Glenaan Station, a fourth-generation family farm in the foothills of New Zealand’s Southern Alps. Our sheep graze freely across open alpine pastures where clean air, fresh water, and natural grasses shape the quality of the wool we grow.

At Glenaan Station, our regenerative approach works with nature to restore and strengthen the land. Through rotational grazing, fenced waterways, and native tree planting, we protect our soils, rivers, and ecosystems. We monitor biodiversity and native grasses to measure recovery over time and build soil carbon by grazing in a way that mimics natural herd movement. Healthy soil holds more water, supports native species, and grows stronger, more resilient fibre, creating better wool and a better planet for the next generation.

Every Hemprino garment is knitted and finished in Tauranga, New Zealand, where we can visit our makers and stay closely involved in every stage of production. While manufacturing locally is more expensive, it gives us the assurance of quality, supports skilled New Zealand employment, reduces transport emissions, and reflects our commitment to craftsmanship and care in every piece.
